Forget the hype about Hygge - Oslo Strikkefestival is all about Dugnad - working together to make awesome things happen! We're a volunteer-run, volunteer-dependent festival - in it for the love of yarn, not the dolla'! Social Media Manager

aka ‘Gram Chief

BACKGROUND
We are a tiny but feisty team organising a weekend-long party to celebrate all things woolly from October 20th - 22nd. This is the third year that we throw this bash, and we love it more and more every time.

As ‘Gram Chief / Social Media Manager you’ll work with the co-organizers of the festival in the run up to the Launch Party and the Festival. At the events themselves, you’ll work independently to get the best shots, capture the biggest smiles, and share on Social Media all the fluffy, woolly vibes of #oslostrikkefestival2017!

The goal of Oslo Strikkefestival is simple. We aim to promote fibre crafts the way we know them to be: modern, relevant, accessible and a mighty, joyful, unstoppable force for good.

Oslo Strikkefestival is organised by Tone Sjåstad and Katie Zissou, two hard-working, hard-knitting ladies with woolly, craft-loving hearts.

LOCATION
Oslo, Norway

TIMEFRAME
2 - 4 hours weeks 22 and 23
8 hours June 16th

2 - 4 hours weeks 39, 40 and 41
All weekend October 20th - 22nd

REPORTS TO
Tone Sjåstad - Co-Organizer

CHALLENGE
- Work with the team to create a plan to bring all the fun and follies from Oslo Strikkefestival to a wider audience via Instagram.
- Capture the don’t-miss moments of the festival in photos and Insta Stories

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- You take great photos (preferably with an iPhone/ smart phone)
- You have a natural impulse to share everything - beautifully - on insta and insta stories
- You are up to date on the going’s on of the knitting and fiber world
- You’re a hashtag genius
- You have a good command of English and can write dreamy, cheeky captions
- You have a smile on your face and a glint in your eye :)

Photographer

BACKGROUND

As Photographer you’ll work with the co-organizers of the festival in the run up to the Launch Party and the Festival. At the events themselves, you’ll work independently to get high quality photos that capture the fun-loving atmosphere that is #oslostrikkefestival2017.

CHALLENGE
- Work with the team on product photography for the festival magazine
- Work with the team to create a checklist of pictures to be taken at Oslo Strikkefestival and our Launch Party
- Capture 80 - 100 pictures to grasp the funs, frills and spills of #oslostrikkefestival2017!

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- You take great photos - with particular strength for event and portrait photography
- You have a good command of English and are comfortable talking to people
- You are punctual and enjoy a team-vibe
- You have a smile on your face and a glint in your eye :)

Tremendous Test-Knitters

BACKGROUND
We are a tiny but feisty team organising a weekend-long party to celebrate all things woolly from October 20th - 22nd. This is the third year that we throw this bash, and we love it more and more every time.

As one of our Tremendous Test-Knitters, you’ll work with the team and some top-notch international designers. Together we’ll ensure that the patterns in this year’s #OsloStrikkefestival magazine are *flawless*.

April, weeks 15 - 18

REPORTS TO

CHALLENGE
- Work with the team and a handful of amazing designers to help create flawless, fun and all-around awesome knitting patterns
- Test-knit one - two patterns for small accessories ready for the Oslo Strikkefestival magazine!

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- You are an experienced knitter who follows gauge carefully
- You are used to reading knitting patterns in English
- You are a fast knitter who is comfortable working to deadlines
- You have a team-spirit and are open about asking questions
- You have a smile on your face and a glint in your eye :)

Volunteer Coordinator
aka Local Hero

BACKGROUND
We are a tiny but feisty team organising a weekend-long party to celebrate all things woolly from October 20th - 22nd. This is the third year that we throw this bash, and we love it more and more every time.
As our Volunteer Coordinator, aka Local Hero, you’ll be responsible for co-ordinating shifts for 10 - 12 volunteers. You’ll also be our volunteers’ Go-To Gal (or guy) if they have questions. This means you’ll work closely with us - the festival organizers, as well as the staff at Norsk Folkemuseum and our fantastic team of volunteers.

CHALLENGE
- Work with the team to put together a top team of woolly volunteers for #OsloStrikkefestival 2017
- Collect information on availabilities and skills from our volunteers
- Write up schedules and shift plans for the three days of the festival
- Make sure the right volunteer is in the right job so we all have the best possible time
- Check in frequently with volunteers before and during the festival to make sure they are happy and comfortable
- Liaison between the organizers and the volunteers, making sure everyone has all the information they need

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- You have experience in volunteering at events
- You love solving interpersonal problems and making people happy
- You are a whizz with a spreadsheet and are comfortable using Google Drive / Docs
- You have excellent organizational and team coordination abilities
- You have a team-spirit and are open about asking questions
- You have a good command of English
- You have a smile on your face and a glint in your eye :)
